Country music and tailgating go together like daisy dukes and cowboy boots. That’s why we’re excited to present the first ever Georgia Rodeo in Athens this fall, October 21st—rodeo, tailgate, and country concert all in one! The inaugural festival is featuring country artists Koe Wetzel, Ernest, Kolby Cooper, and Conner Smith, with a surprise headliner to be announced on July 11. Before the artists hit the stage, here’s a few things you need to know about the first ever Georgia Rodeo!
Parking is available onsite beginning at 12pm, and tailgating will occur in the parking lot. You must purchase a parking pass if you are planning to park and tailgate onsite! You may leave your vehicle overnight, but it must be picked up by 12pm on Saturday. The tailgate is BYOB, but glass bottles and liquor will not be allowed. Beer, soda, and water will be sold inside the venue. Only those age 21 and up may consume alcohol—there will be staff checking IDs. Those under 21 and over 21 will receive different colored wristbands.
Tailgating activities are encouraged: play cornhole, toss a football, or even pre-game the country concert with your own Georgia Rodeo playlist. You may bring lawn chairs, tents, and umbrellas to the tailgating area, but they are not allowed in the concert area.
Yes, it is a real rodeo! Before the music begins, attendees can gather around the ring to watch the rodeo. The events include bull-riding, saddled bronco riding, and bareback bronco riding. Participants will compete to see who can hang on and beat the clock. For those interested in riding, there will be a Call In Day to sign up for the events—follow along on social media or sign up for our newsletter to stay updated. There will also be a wild donkey relay race!
The music starts in the afternoon, after the rodeo is finished. There will be hours of live country music, with up and coming stars like Conner Smith and popular artists like Koe Wetzel. The sets are back to back, and will continue into the night. The concert ends when the headlining artist finishes their encore. We suggest bringing a jacket or sweater for when the temperature cools down after sunset!
Everyone is welcome to attend! The Georgia Rodeo is not just for college students—who doesn’t love to see live country music? Country music fans young and old—from anywhere and everywhere—are welcome to enjoy the rodeo, tailgate, and concert. Those who only want to attend the concert are welcome to show up later in the day after the rodeo portion is over.
Early Bird tickets are available now at a discounted price for a limited time. Ticket prices will go up as we get closer to the event, so purchase yours early to get the best deal—this is a country concert like you’ve never seen before!
